12 Saved, Others Touched in Nairobi
Conveying a testimony of how he nearly drowned, Joseph, a Global University undergraduate student from Kenya, preached in an open air meeting in the Lunga Lunga slums of Nairobi as a part of an Apologetics course. He reports of 12 people being saved and others touched by the power of God. “God is real, alive and answers prayer!” he shared.
Homework Assignment Leads to 30 Conversions in East Africa
Meshach is a Global University student at the East Africa School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya. One of the assignments for his “Bible and Missions” undergraduate course was to work with a team from his local church in organizing an evangelistic outreach geared toward people from another culture. His sermon focused on the simple and timeless message of Christ’s love for a lost world. “Christ has given us the power for the ministry of bringing others to the Savior through the Great Commission,” Meshach reported. Both a church service and an open-air meeting were held, with 30 people accepting God’s gift of salvation, and many other church members recommitting their lives to the Lord.
Students in Kenya learn that “Sacrifice Is the Key”
Another group of Global University undergraduate students in Nairobi, Kenya also held an outreach in an existing church in the Kasarani district for the same “Bible and Missions” course. Using door-to-door witnessing, personal evangelism, and open-air meetings, the students shared the message of Jesus Christ to people of different tribal backgrounds and cultures. They reported significant results. Communicating to people that God can remove the shackles of bondage, heal diseases, and restore broken lives, 10 people responded to their call for a life change. Just as vital, however, was the message the student’s learned: sacrifice is the key to success in missions work.
“Acts” Student Leads Mother and Daughter to Christ in South Africa
In the South African area of Cape Town, a Global University student used a bottle of water as an illustration of how Jesus Christ had cleansed him from sin. Craig, who was taking an undergraduate course on the book of Acts, held up the bottle and explained to a young lady how the container represented the way his life used to be. Although the water looked sanitary, he said, it was actually contaminated, having the potential to harm him and others. It was at this moment he took the time to expound on how Jesus had died for the sins of the world (Romans 5:8, 6:23). Craig shared with the lady how the Lord had filled him with fresh, living water. He then carried his water bottle analogy further by expressing to her that, although it may appear the same on the outside, the container now contains life instead of death.
“The young lady was quite emotional,” Craig disclosed. “Her mom was there beside her. I prayed with her as well, and she asked if she too could be cleansed in this way.” The young lady’s mother went on to confess many activities which were destroying her life, and later accepted Jesus as her Savior as a result of Craig’s testimony and the obvious change in her daughters’ life.
“I am more aware my life advertises His presence,” Craig declared. “As I grow more aware of this, I desire to live for Him in everything I do. I pray for those who are yet to know Him, and trust Him for opportunities to meet them.”
